The other day it was discovered that there was a possible legal dispute between Take Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, and Remedy Entertainment between the similarities of their logos. The source of this information was discovered on the Gov.UK website under the trademark filed for Remedy’s logo but as it turns out, this was all just a load of nothing and there is no actual lawsuit between the two.
No Trademark Dispute Between Rockstar and Remedy?
Stephen Totilo, a reporter at gamefile.news, recently shared a post on X/Twitter claiming that a representative from Remedy Entertainment has clarified that the “legal filing” is nothing to be concerned about and the issue was “resolved entirely and amicably late last year,” further claiming that the legal filing was simply an “initial formality” with the two companies continuing to work together in partnership.
I’m not a legal expert so I’m not sure what this initial formality means, but based roughly upon some claims on Reddit, it may mean something along the lines of Take Two demonstrating that they are actively “defending their trademark”. Another person mentions how the possible lawsuit was odd from the start due to both companies working together on the Max Payne remake, though I think we can be forgiven for assuming considering Take Two’s reputation.
I guess for now there is nothing to be concerned about, until Take Two’s next lawsuit.
