Xigmatek Whiz CPU Air Cooler Launched

The Xigmatek Whiz was announced at Computex but is now finally available. Like most higly efficient bang-for-buck CPU coolers, the Xigmatek Whiz uses a direct-touch heatpipe cooler design. This means the copper heatpipes directly touch the CPU IHS. There is no interposer material between them (other than the thermal interface material). Four heatpipes take heat away directly from the CPU core and distribute it to 48 aluminum fins. The heat is then dispersed by the fans to keep the system cool.

A CPU cooler is only as good as its fan, so Xigmatek bundled the Whiz with a silent solution. The SE-II red LED fan operates between 800 to 2000 RPM and uses Xigmatek’s fluid circulative bearing. Anti-vibration mounting rubber pads are pre-installed for noise dampening. It also uses a 4-pin PWM connector so the system can automatically adjust the speed conditionally.

The SE-II fan uses seven translucent blades that also help disperse the light. The red LED comes from the rounded frame and fires towards the middle to create an even distribution. These fan blades are also detachable for easy cleaning and maintenance. The Xigmatek Whiz supports up to two 120mm fans on both sides.
