Gigabyte to give an LGA 2011 board 8 memory slots!

LGA 2011 is the upcoming socket for the newest addition to Intel’s processors, the Sandy Bridge-E. The board that Gigabyte have been designing will be running off the X79 chipset and is going to obviously support Quad Channel memory. The board has been designed two support 2 Way Quad channel memory which obviously results in 8 memory slots being featured. The GA-6PXSV will have support for a total of 64GB of ram, which is up to 8 slots with 8GB modules equipped in each.

In addition to the well equipped memory lanes there are four PCI-E full sized slots of which the electrical configurations of them are 16X/16X/8X/4X as well as a single legacy PCI slot even though it is unlikely people will need those by the time the X79 boards come around. Six 6GB/s SATA III ports are featured alongside Two 6GB/s SAS ports (a new replacement to SCSI). Support for USB 3.0 and Intel’s Rapid Store Technology is also included. Amongst the usual rear IO connectivity we see dual LAN ports which is a nice feature for a high end board like this one.

  1. Awesome sauce! Now we'll just have to wait for the Desktop/Enthusiast X79 boards with the same # of DIMM slots :)
