NVIDIA Launches Two New Mobile GeForce MX GPUs

NVIDIA is launching two new mobile GeForce GPUs, though without much fanfare. The GeForce MX 130 and MX 110 are entry-level chips, powered by NVIDIA’s Maxwell GM108 GPU architecture and a 28nm process. In addition, the pair offer superior performance-per-watt over their predecessors. In fact, the two GPUs even come in 25W variants.

NVIDIA Vs. Intel (and AMD)

It’ll be interesting to see how NVIDIA’s new GeForce MX chips compete against the forthcoming Kaby Lake-G chips. Kaby Lake-G, of course, is the new joint venture between Intel and AMD, combining 8th Gen Kaby Lake CPUs with AMD’s Ryzen GPUs. Indeed, the GeForce MX chips will also draw comparison to AMD’s standalone Ryzen Mobile (aka Raven Ridge) chips.

Availability

The GeForce MX130 and MX110 chips are available now and will appear in OEM machines soon, no doubt.
