Leaked Slides Reveal Soon To Be Reveal Nvidia Product

Nvidia have been using a little text adventure game to tease an up coming hardware reveal, but it looks like a huge set of leaked slides has blown the cover off of their next big product. Rumour had it that it would be the new version of the Nvidia Shield and while the Shield 2 rumour still holds some weight to it, it appears to be something slightly different, the Nvidia Shield Tablet.

From the slides we can see that it features the mighty Tegra K1 processors, the first SoC to include a full cluster of 192 CUDA cores, which is a technical way of saying it is incredibly powerful. The tablet is pretty much a high-end Android tablet, with a few tweaks that will tailor it towards being a competent gaming device, with 2GB of ram, the powerful Tegra K1 SoC, QuadCore 2.2 GHz A15 CPU, 8 inch 1920 x 1200 IPS display, and an optional 16GB Wi-Fi model, or a 32GB LTE model. The Shield wireless controller is a separate device this time, which Nvidia say has around half the input lag of a Bluetooth controller, is styled on the original Shield analogue controller, but it’s unclear if it works with other devices at this time.

The 16GB model is expected to cost $299, the 32GB $399 and the controller an additional $59. I personally love my Shield, it’s a fantastic little gaming device that offers a lot of unique features compared to units like the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, so it will be very interesting to see how the Tablet compares.
