Following their CES 2022 keynote, it’s been well-known for some time now that Intel’s next-generation Raptor Lake processors would likely be set to arrive before the end of this year. As to exactly when, however, has been more than a point of speculation. – Following a report via Videocardz, however, information has appeared online suggesting that Raptor Lake desktop processors might be arriving a lot sooner than most might’ve expected.

Put simply, they might be available to purchase before the end of September!

As part of the leak (courtesy of Moore’s Law is Dead), it is being suggested that the latest update at Intel now has their Raptor Lake processors set for release before the end of Q3 this year. So, in other words, Raptor Lake is currently on target to arrive (pending official confirmation) before the end of September. – Now, while not a massive amount of time away from what we were anticipating, in terms of September, we saw this as more in line for their launch for a subsequent release in October and/or November.

If this news is proven accurate, however, then an official launch event may happen as soon as July or August!

What Do We Think?

With Raptor Lake retaining the LGA 1700 socket, the good news is that for those of you who have already made the transition to Alder Lake-S, this latest processor platform will not (at least in theory) require any new motherboard purchase. That being said though, there will, of course, be new motherboards to go along with it. – With one of the few known details being a further development on the hybrid architecture, however, we’re currently viewing Raptor Lake as more of an enhanced version of Alder Lake rather than anything notably new. If they are set for release this September though, then we should expect to hear a lot more about them in late Spring/early Summer.
