GTX 1070 3DMark Firestrike Leaked

GeForce GTX 1070 3DMark Firestrike

As the younger sibling to the GTX 1080, the GTX 1070 offers a much more wallet-friendly solution. Set to launch at $379/$449, the less chip features the same GP104 die but with 25% of it cut out. So far, Nvidia’s released figures point to a GPU that will beat the Titan X in raw performance. Today, we’re getting some 3DMark Firestrike results which sheds some light on the new card.

Clocked around 200Mhz above stock, the overclocked GTX 1070 in the leaks run at 1870 MHz. This allows the card to eek out a slight lead in 3DMark Firestrike, scoring 17557, 8327 and 4078 in 4K, 1440p and 1080p respectively. This gives an average of 97% increase over the Titan X. Of course, once you consider the slight overclock, the stock GTX 1070 would most likely be just on par with the Titan X, if not lower.

That said, the GTX 1070 can and will overclock by a greater amount so the card would likely pull ahead in that scenario. This will hopefully pan out once we get custom versions of the card. That will not only solve any heat related problems, but also remove the limitation of the single 8pin PCIe power connector. Of course, the biggest limitation will be the use of GDDR5 over the 256bit bus. What do you think about the GTX 1070?
