AMD Could Be Working On More AM4 X3D Chips

AMD’s X3D CPU’s have proven to be a solid investment with the chips taking a strong foothold against their non-X3D counterparts in benchmarks. Now whilst AM5 is the latest socket for AMD, AM4 is still kicking around and AMD has continued to support it even after the launch of the 7000 series. New rumours have surfaced that show AMD may be planning even more additions to AM4 with new X3D chips.

More AM4 X3D Chips

A rumour has been shared by chi11eddog (Via VideoCardz) who has been a reliable source for hardware leaks in the past. They claim that AMD are working on a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D both featuring 96MB of L3 Cache. Currently, AM4 features two X3D chips, the 5800X3D and the MicroCentre exclusive 5600X3D, so more X3D chips for AM4 users is good news as it seems more likely that these will see a broader launch. These two rumoured chips are effectively just lesser versions of the two existing chips as the 5700X3D at 4.1 GHz features a 400 MHz lower boost clock than the 5800X3D at 4.5 GHz as does the 5500X3D at 4.0 GHz to the 5600X3D at 4.5 GHz.

There isn’t much more about these chips, but they could stand to offer a strong upgrade path for those still on AM4 who don’t want to spend the money on an AM5 upgrade or a 5800X3D but want to take advantage of X3D Cache.

Chances are if these chips are real, we can expect something at CES 2024 in January alongside the reveal of 8000G APUs.
