Forza Motorsport Screeches Into The eSports Arena

Forza

Forza Motorsport’s magical formula of intense racing, stunning graphics, an enjoyable physics model and expansive career has made it incredibly popular among motorsport enthusiasts. For example, I remember buying a Xbox 360 Elite model mainly to try Forza Motorsport 2 and invested well over 200 hours in the career mode. Over the years, Turn 10 Studios have made vast improvements to the graphics engine and engine noises. Saying that, the third and fourth games seemed a little easy for my liking. As with any racing game with a passionate community, there’s the potential to go into the eSports scene and offer prize money via competitions.

Of course, iRacing is still the main racing simulator on the PC due to laser scanned tracks and exceptional handling model. To capture this section of the market, Turn 10 has just unveiled the Forza Racing Championship:

“Racing on Xbox One will soon take its next great leap forward with the Forza Racing Championship, debuting later this summer in Forza Motorsport 6. The Forza Racing Championship will take advantage of Forza’s renowned authenticity and the massive amount of content available in the game, including more than 600 fully detailed Forzavista™ cars and an unmatched lineup of racing tracks from all over the world.”

“The Forza Racing Championship welcomes players of all levels to hone skills as they compete for glory and real-world prizes. Competitions will be open and competitive for all, from brand new players taking their first laps, to the fastest virtual drivers in the world. Forza Racing Championship will be home to the best and most inclusive racing competition in gaming – where everyone has a chance to win, no matter how many miles they have behind the wheel.”

This is a fantastic idea and should attract the best players to compete due to real-world prizes, which sounds like a cash reward. Perhaps, Microsoft has seen the success of the Halo eSports scene and now wants to apply this strategy in Forza Motorsport. Now that Forza is on the PC, expect to see many users with extreme racing setups who want to reach the top spot.
