Ryzen: The Next Wave at Computex 2017

Computex 2017

AMD has already shown some impressive new products here at Computex 2017. However, one of the ones that caught our attention is Ryzen Mobile. Sure, mobile processors are not that exciting, but they’re an important product for AMD. Intel, ARM, and a few others dominate the mobile sector, but that may all be about to change.

Ryzen Mobile – The Next Wave

The new Ryzen Mobile APU was given a live demonstration at the press conference. The APU uses a new 4-core, 8-thread design. However, the most exciting thing is that it also uses the Vega architecture to deliver improved graphics performance.

Capabilities?

We honestly do not know. The demo was on a prototype unit. However, the mobile-powered notebook shown was playing HD video content. No doubt it’ll have some power for mobile app based gaming and other entertainment features, but we’re eager to find out more in the coming months.

Oculus?

Aside from Ryzen mobile APUs, AMD also confirmed that all desktop Ryzen CPUs are now Oculus Approved. This is great news for anyone building a VR gaming rig. Of course, this includes Ryzen 3, 5, 7 and without a doubt the upcoming Thread Ripper products.
