Intel Ivy Bridge i7 3770K Review

With well over a month to go before Intel was intending to launch you would probably be surprised to see a review is out already. Anandtech have managed to get their hands on an i7 3770K Ivy Bridge processor and have put it through its paces. Starting from overall system performance synthetic test suites, such as SysMark 2012, content-creation, video transcoding, gaming, and system power consumption. The general consensus is that single core performance is the highest of any processor on the market and that the i7 3770K is the best quad core on the market. Performance gains in terms of the CPU are around 5-15% depending on the application, the integrated GPU fares much better being boosted by up to 60% in some games. If you’re coming from a Sandy Bridge or Sandy Bridge-E platform then this upgrade would make almost no sense at all, however if you’re still waiting to make that transition from LGA 1366, LGA 1156, LGA 775, AM3 or AM3+ then we would say now has never been a better time to jump on the Ivy Bridge bandwagon.
