The British Academy of film and Television Arts (BAFTA) have revealed that for the first time in its 10-year history, it will be allowing members of the public to purchase tickets and get into the show. Traditionally the award ceremony has been kept an industry-only event.

The event is to be hosted by Dara O’Briain next month at the Tobacco Dock in London, and it will be celebrating many aspects of the world of video games development from the last year. The shows organisers are hoping this year will broaden the appeal of the awards show by planning a more public facing event.

The show will now feature a pre-awards event called ‘Inside Games’, effectively a trade show where public and industry members can get hands on with upcoming titles, showcases and exhibits, this year attendees will find everything from indie titles to Titan fall and Dark Souls II, and the appearance of Sony, Microsoft and Valve.

Tickets are to cost £30 for the who thing, or just £12 for those only wanting to attend Inside Games. Of course spaces will be limited, so if you want it, you best book up fast.
