EU forced Apple to kill Mac Pro availability from March 1st

A ruling by the European Union has been passed, forcing Apple to stop selling the Mac Pro in Europe from March on the grounds the units have exposed fans.

This happened because an amendment was made to IEC-60950-1 which requires computer manufacturers who have fan guards and extra shielding around the electrical ports. Therefore until Apple, Inc. makes the necessary modifications, the Mac Pro will be barred from selling because of the rear fan.

But according to what Gizmodo says, Apple didn’t do much except do minor spec changes every now and then. Maybe the EU ruling may push Apple to bring a newer version of the Mac Pro but as of now, unless the stores’ inventories don’t have these units, you can order them by February 18th to get them before the cut-off date of February 28th.
