Samsung’s Foldable Display Smartphones Set for January Launch

Recent rumours that Samsung’s first foldable display smartphone could hit the market in January 2016 appear to be true, with SamMobile revealing that the device, dubbed Project Valley, will launch in eight countries, including the UK but not the US, at the turn of next year.

Project Valley will have the model number SM-G929F, suggesting that the specifications will be similar to the recent Galaxy S6 Edge+, which carried the model number SM-G928. According to TechSpot, Samsung has two variants of Project Valley in the works, one running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor, with the other carrying a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip. The Valley moniker is presumed to describe the V-shape the phone will form when folded, supported by a recent Samsung patent.

Project Valley, presumably under a more Galaxy-ish name, will hit the following countries at the turn of 2016:

  • BTU – United Kingdom
  • CPW – United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse)
  • DBT – Germany
  • ITV – Italy
  • KOR – South Korea
  • NEE – Nordic countries
  • XEF – France
  • XEO – Poland
  • XEU – United Kingdom / Ireland

While the US is excluded from the above list, the foldable device may roll out to further countries later in the year, or even be added to the first run list once Project Valley is officially unveiled.
