AMD Reveal Threadripper at Computex 2017

Ryzen Threadripper

We’ve fallen a little bit in love with the Ryzen CPU range so far. They’ve delivered incredible performance, overclocking, and prices over the last few months. Of course, this is great news for AMD, who have been behind in the CPU market for quite some time now. However, the best is yet to come. AMD are ramping up to the launch of their monstrous Threadripper CPU.

This isn’t some crazy enterprise solution either, it’s a staggering 16-cores and 32-threads of CPU, and it’ll fit into a consumer motherboard. Of course, it’s aimed at the pro-sumer, enthusiast and professional markets. However, anyone working in content creation, extreme gaming systems, workstations, and more, will all see some epic benefits from this CPU design.

Features

What’s staggering about this CPU is that it’ll feature a whopping 64 PCIe lanes. That means headroom for quad-GPUs, lots of storage, and so much more. There’s now also Quad-Channel memory support, with the option for up to 2TB of RAM!

The new CPUs will need the upcoming X399 motherboards. Of course, you can expect these from the big names like ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI. Sorry, but this CPU is just too damn massive to fit in the regular AM4 socket.

Release Date?

The details are a bit vague at the moment, but AMD did say “This Summer” so it shouldn’t be too long now!
