Amazon Vendors Sell 6 Packs of Mining GPU’s

6-Pack GPU’s

Getting a half-decent GPU for a reasonable price these days can be very tricky work. A significant part of the current problem with the rise of costs is directly due to the boom in cryptocurrencies.

It seems, however, that despite this price issue, scalpers on Amazon are selling GPU bundles, as much as 6-packs, specifically marketed for miners.

Cryptocurrency Mining

While there is no doubt that cryptocurrency mining is a big deal, there are also consequences of this. One of them, as above, is that it has caused the base price of graphics cards to increase significantly.

In a very popular article we did recently, we compared GPU prices now, to how they were when we initially reviewed them. Some, even within the space of only a few months, had increased in price by anything up to 25%.

Insane Prices!

One such example we would highlight can be seen in the above image. One Amazon vendor is attempting to sell 6 Nvidia 1060 graphics cards for an insane $3,779.99. The full advert can be seen here.

Now, based on average market prices, one of these cards should around £370.00. Therefore, even despite this being in a bundle, the vendor is hoping to cash in for an additional £500 (after some dollar to pound conversions). Call me crazy, but usually the point of a bundle is to be less than the single rate.

What do you think?

Yes, getting your hands on 6 Nvidia 1060’s might be tricky, but it’s not impossible. People scalping these cards though to turn a quick profit is, however, very devious. There is certainly something appealing in having a bundle set to quickly start earning some quick Ethereum, but for $3,799.99 I think you might be better sticking with what you have got.

The only real question is, should Amazon be allowing this type of retailing to occur?

What do you think? Should Amazon remove these products? Do you think this is permissible? – Let us know in the comments!

  1. I wonder where we’re going in the long run. With such high prices I’m afraid more and more people will choose to not upgrade their GPU, and the game studios would see the selling rate of their AAA drop and so the revenue to reinvest in R&D of new graphic technologies. We may actually see more and more people embracing console gaming… Well, perhaps I am overreacting?
