It seems that AMD plans to release an updated version of its Dragon Range series processors, which power high-performance laptops. Although AMD has not officially announced this new series yet, ASUS has shown a laptop with one of these new Dragon Range Refresh processors. These processors are updated versions of the desktop series, designed to deliver excellent performance with up to 16 Zen 4 cores, and now they come with a faster version.
New AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX Features in ASUS ROG STRIX 2025
The ASUS ROG STRIX 2025 has been spotted featuring the new AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX, which has a configuration of 16 Zen 4 cores and 32 threads. This new processor has a clock speed of up to 5.3 GHz, which is 100 MHz faster than the previous 7940HX version. This new laptop was seen in China, priced at 13,999 yuan (around 1907 USD), and it comes with an NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti GPU alongside the updated AMD processor.
Currently, AMD has not officially confirmed the release of this new series, but manufacturers are already showcasing laptops with these CPUs. As more laptops with the new generation of AMD processors are released, we can expect other manufacturers to also introduce this new series that uses the updated Zen 4 cores for gaming laptops.
