BLU Products have introduced a brand new “phablet” style handset designed for people on a budget who still want a large phone. The device strikes up a strong balance between price, screen size and specifications to offer consumers a pretty good value for money solution. The display is obviously the main selling point though it probably won’t impress many in terms of its resolution. The 5.5 inch display has an 854 x 480 resolution running on Android 4.2. The internals include a MediaTek quad core CPU processor running at 1.2GHz, 4G HSPA+ 42Mbs connectivity, a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 1GB of RAM, 1080p recording capabilities and an expandable microSD card slot. Updates to the product’s software are delivered over the air by BLU’s wireless update system.

The BLU Studio 5.5 will be available in five colours, pictured above, at an SMRP of $179. The handset will be made available in 30 countries including Latin America.

  1. with that tft screen and that battery… expect onscreen times of 2,5 hours, MAX (if they’d have full hd, onscreen time would’ve been close to 1hr tho’) 🙂 … if they bump the battery a bit they’ll surpass the iphone 5s 3,5 hours of on screen time, yay 🙂
