Samsung Found Cheating At Smartphone Camera Again!

Anyone who has regularly upgraded their smartphone over the last 5 years will regularly note just how much more improved camera quality is getting. Don’t get me wrong, there is certainly still more than a notable difference between the camera on, for example, an iPhone X and a DSLR camera (digital single-lens reflex), but the difference is, perhaps close enough that the layman wouldn’t notice.

It seems, however, that in this regard Samsung may be back up to tricks they’ve tried in the past. In a report via The Verge, Samsung has been found to use a DSLR camera to take pictures under the guise of being from their smartphone.

Galaxy A8 Star

Writer and photographer, Dunja Djudjic, noticed something a little unusual about the pictures displayed for the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star. Namely, that the Samsung Malaysia was using a picture she took (with a DSLR camera) under the guise of it being taken on their smartphone. Well, sort of.

A Slight Technicality

Playing Devil’s Advocate, the picture used on the website doesn’t explicitly say that it was taken on theA8 Star. It is, however, more than heavily implied. For example, the image itself has been slightly changed and altered from the original. This shows that Samsung at least had a motive for using it.

This isn’t, however, the first time that they have been caught doing this. For example, back in August Samsung Brazil were found doing the exact same thing. It isn’t even something limited to that company with Huawei also found to have done this.

So, I guess the moral of the story is, don’t believe everything you see!

What do you think? Is this a little bit naughty? How impressed are you with the quality of your phone camera? – Let us know in the comments!
