Ubisoft have been revealing some quite interesting details to Kotaku recently about their Assassin’s Creed game series. According to Ubisoft’s chairman and CEO, Yves Guillemot, the publisher’s internal teams are currently working on three new games for the Assassin’s Creed franchise of which we know that one of those is the new Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag game.

However, Ubisoft were quick to say that this does not mean they are putting their developing team under harsh conditions by getting them to produce so many games, Guillemot was also quick to state it wouldn’t stifle innovation either.

Apparently each game needs around 2-3 years to develop but given that Ubisoft like to produce a new game every year it is definitely necessary that they are working on more than one at any one time.

“We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time – two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh” said Yves Guillemot.

The first game of the three as mentioned is AC4 which is a release for this year. The second game is likely to be next year’s Assassin’s Creed instalment while the third game isn’t known but it could by 2015’s instalment or a mobile version of an Assassin’s Creed game.

  1. Busy bees aren’t they? I like the Assassin Creed series but wasn’t too enamoured with AC3 mainly because of that Connor character. Let’s hope the new protagonists have a more appealing personality than the potato sack that was Connor.

      1. Just meant that UbiSoft is trying to get as much millage out of the Franchise as possible while it is hot. “When on to a good thing, stick to it” so to speak.
