Ni No Kuni 2 Received New Trailer Highlighting It’s Building Mode

It’s one of our worst kept secrets, but we at eTeknix are really looking forward to Ni No Kuni 2. We even went as far as naming it in our 5 most anticipated things for 2018. Admittedly, along with Final Fantasy XV which, in addition, we are barely able to wait for on PC.

Around 2 weeks ago, we posted an article in relation to some new in-game footage being released. As part of that article at the time, I speculated that it appeared that they were going to add some form of ‘building’ mode to the new game. Well, turns out that I was right. It does happen occasionally. Yes, Ni No Kuni 2, aside from appearing to be every bit of the sequel to its glorious predecessor we hoped it would be, also is apparently including a ‘building mode’ of sorts.

Now in the 30 second(ish) video below we don’t actually get to see a lot of it, it is, however, confirmed that a building mode will exist in Ni No Kuni 2. In the video, we get to see footage of our protagonist strolling around a town/city which is reported to be of design rather than as an integrated location in the game.

Just how far this feature will go is unclear. There is certainly potential in this avenue, although I feel it will have to be well executed to fit within the scope of the game.

Regardless of your thoughts regarding the building aspect, I have to say, I loved that accompanying music. Although famous (and beloved) Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi did work on the music to the original game, neither he nor the Ghibli have any direct involvement in this sequel. The trace evidence, however, is clearly there.

What do you think? Are you excited for Ni No Kuni 2? Did you play the original? If town building a good idea or bad?- Let us know in the comments!
