Call of Duty: Black Ops III is Best Played on PS4 According to Sony’s Adam Boyes

Black Ops III

Call of Duty Black Ops III is available on a number of platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PC.  As a result, the game’s performance and render resolutions varies greatly. In all honesty, I’m amazed the last generation consoles can even run the game, and this is shown in its awful visual quality. As with any multi-platform release, each version is dissected and compared via analytical videos. According to Sony’s Adam Boyes, the best place to play Call of Duty is on PlayStation 4. He said:

“This is a historic partnership that makes PlayStation the best place to play Call of Duty,”

“The massive reception to the game’s multiplayer beta only a few months ago demonstrated the huge appetite our fans have for this franchise and the anticipation for Black Ops III.”

“This is the game our fans want,”

“And we’re proud to welcome Call of Duty to its new home on PlayStation 4.”

These comments are clearly directed at Microsoft customers as the Call of Duty series did incredibly well on the Xbox 360. However, to say it’s the “best place” is frankly absurd. The PlayStation 4 version utilizes a 1920×1080 resolution at 60 frames-per-second. In contrast to this, the PC supports resolutions in excess of 4K, and an uncapped framerate. The technical differences between the Xbox One and PlayStation editions are negligible and Boyes’ remarks come across as a fairly timid marketing exercise.
